Why do you want to be a Council Member? I want to bring more transparent governance to the First District and Peoria as a whole. Ending TIF misuse can provide more real benefits to the residents of the First District. Additionally, an honest and fair relationship needs to be re-established between the PPD and residents of the First District. The City of Peoria also needs to continue to ensure that the riverfront remain a public green space, free from overdevelopment.
What are your top priorities, if elected? End of excessive TIF use, that drains needed tax revenue from Peoria Public Schools. The establishment of a First District Land Bank, that will purchase and rehabilitate foreclosed homes and for low income families. Seek a city wide raise in the minimum wage.
How will you use your power as a Council Member to advance these priorities? I will advocate for the majority of First District residents that suffer from underemployment, low wages and chronic urban blight.
What sets you apart from other candidates in the race? I will be the residents representative and be a megaphone for their views.
